Licensing & Activation
Licensing
License, device, and production slot
Licensing
Soviez licensing controls which operations your server is authorized to perform. Your ERP business data stays on your server — licensing services verify entitlement, they do not host your database.
Core concepts
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| License | Your commercial entitlement — one License supports one Production environment |
| Device | This server’s identity, cryptographically bound to your License at activation |
| Production Slot | One live Production per License — enforced automatically |
| Technical Support | Optional coverage for support access and ERP product updates |
| Update entitlement | Permission to apply new ERP releases (included with active Technical Support) |
| Stage entitlement | Permission to create, refresh, and manage Stage environments |
| Migration authorization | Permission to move a License from one server to another |
How entitlements are granted
Entitlements come from your Soviez account regardless of how you purchased:
- Customer portal checkout
- Invoice or offline arrangement (admin-granted)
- Complimentary or partner grants
The entitlement model is the same — payment method does not change what your server can do.
What licensing does not do
Licensing and Soviez service outages do not:
- Shut down a running ERP
- Block login to your ERP
- Delete business data
- Block backup, restore, status, diagnostics, or recovery commands
See SUPPORT_AND_EXPIRY.md for details on support expiration.
Stage entitlement
When Stage entitlement expires:
- New Stage create/clone/refresh operations are blocked
- Existing Stages are not automatically deleted or stopped
You can still list, start, stop, back up, and drop existing Stages.
Migration
Moving ERP to a new server requires migration authorization on your License. See MIGRATION.md.
